Cuantificación y Valoración Monetaria del Carbono Urbano de la Ciudad de Corrientes, Argentina

Este estudio analiza la capacidad de captura y almacenamiento de carbono del arbolado urbano de la ciudad de Corrientes (Argentina) y su valoración económica como activo ambiental. A partir de ecuaciones alométricas específicas para árboles y palmeras se estimaron biomasa aérea y subterránea, el carbono almacenado y el dióxido de carbono equivalente. Los resultados muestran que el arbolado urbano almacena 844 t de carbono (3.098 tCO₂e), concentrados principalmente en la Costanera Norte y el Parque Camba Cuá. La biomasa arbórea representa más del 99 % del total, mientras que las palmeras presentan aportes marginales. La valoración económica, basada en un modelo hedónico de precios, arrojó valores entre 13 y 37 USD/tCO₂e según distintos escenarios de certificación y riesgo. Estos resultados evidencian la influencia de los co-beneficios urbanos, la calidad metodológica y la gobernanza informativa sobre la disposición a pagar. El estudio posiciona al arbolado urbano como infraestructura natural estratégica para la mitigación del cambio climático y la generación de activos ambientales locales. Se concluye que la integración de inventarios georreferenciados, sistemas de Monitoreo, Reporte y Verificación (MRV) y marcos regulatorios robustos permitiría incorporar el carbono urbano a esquemas de financiamiento verde y compensación de emisiones en ciudades del Cono Sur.
