Quantificação e valoração monetária do carbono urbano na cidade de Corrientes, Argentina.

Resumo

Este estudo analisa a capacidade de sequestro e armazenamento de carbono das árvores urbanas na cidade de Corrientes, Argentina, e sua valoração econômica como um ativo ambiental. Utilizando equações alométricas específicas para árvores e palmeiras, foram estimadas a biomassa aérea e subterrânea, o carbono armazenado e o dióxido de carbono equivalente. Os resultados mostram que as árvores urbanas armazenam 844 toneladas de carbono (3.098 tCO₂e), concentradas principalmente no Parque Costanera Norte e no Parque Camba Cuá. A biomassa arbórea representa mais de 99% do total, enquanto as palmeiras contribuem apenas marginalmente. A valoração econômica, baseada em um modelo de precificação hedônica, apresentou valores entre US$ 13 e US$ 37/tCO₂e, de acordo com diferentes cenários de certificação e risco. Esses resultados demonstram a influência dos benefícios urbanos, da qualidade metodológica e da governança da informação na disposição a pagar. O estudo posiciona as árvores urbanas como infraestrutura natural estratégica para a mitigação das mudanças climáticas e a geração de ativos ambientais locais. A conclusão é que a integração de inventários georreferenciados, sistemas de Monitoramento, Relato e Verificação (MRV) e estruturas regulatórias robustas permitiria a incorporação do carbono urbano em esquemas de financiamento verde e compensação de emissões em cidades do Cone Sul.

    Claudia Verónica Luna es Ingeniera Agrónoma egresada de la Facultad de Ciencias Agrarias de la Universidad Nacional del Nordeste (UNNE) y se desempeña como investigadora en el Instituto de Botánica del Nordeste (IBONE, CONICET – UNNE), en Corrientes, Argentina. Su línea de trabajo se orienta a la ecología vegetal aplicada a la restauración ecológica y conservación de ecosistemas nativos, con énfasis en especies forestales del nordeste argentino y en el enfoque de rewilding urbano como herramienta de resiliencia socioecológica.

    Participa activamente en proyectos de manejo de vegetación nativa, evaluación de bancos de semillas del suelo, dinámica de comunidades leñosas y planificación ambiental. Ha coordinado acciones de restauración y monitoreo en la Reserva Natural Urbana Santa Catalina, contribuyendo al diseño de estrategias de restauración basadas en procesos ecológicos naturales y participación ciudadana.

    Es autora y coautora de publicaciones científicas, capítulos de libros y ponencias en congresos nacionales e internacionales de botánica, ecología y gestión ambiental. Combina la investigación científica con la educación ambiental y la gestión del territorio, promoviendo la integración entre conocimiento académico, políticas públicas y conservación de la biodiversidad regional.
